El Nino - EXPLAINED

If you have a wood-burning stove, open fire, fire pit or pizza oven, now is a great time to think about your log supply. Nobody wants to be caught short when the temperature suddenly drops and everyone starts looking for logs at the same time.
And this year, there’s another reason to start thinking ahead.
What is El Niño and what could it mean for our winter?
You may have seen the news recently about El Niño.
El Niño is a natural climate pattern caused by unusually warm sea temperatures in the tropical Pacific. Although that might sound a very long way away from the UK, these changes can influence weather patterns around the world.
The latest update from the World Meteorological Organization says that El Niño is now firmly established and is expected to strengthen further, potentially reaching very strong levels towards the end of 2026. Forecasts give a near-100% likelihood that El Niño will continue through February 2027.
So, does that mean we're definitely going to have a freezing, snowy winter?
No — and this is where it's important to separate a weather possibility from a weather forecast.
The Met Office explains that El Niño can affect UK weather, but its influence is moderated by other climate drivers. In general, El Niño increases the likelihood of a milder, wetter and windier start to winter, with the potential for a colder end to winter.
The Met Office has also highlighted that the current El Niño is exceptionally strong and could increase the chances of wetter and stormier conditions across north-west Europe, including the UK, during autumn and early winter.
So we're not saying “El Niño means a freezing winter is coming.”
What we're saying is that the weather could be particularly changeable, and with such a strong El Niño developing, it's another good reason to be prepared rather than caught out.

And if you've left it until the last minute, don't panic — next-day delivery is available on many orders, depending on location and availability.
Open and honest pricing

What are you actually buying?
Our logs are high quality kiln dried logs, generally cut to around 8–10 inches.
That makes them a practical size for domestic wood-burning stoves and open fires, as well as being suitable for outdoor uses such as fire pits and pizza ovens.
When you're comparing log prices, don't just look at the number on the advert.
Look at the quality.
Look at the size of the logs.
Look at the moisture content.
Look at the business you're buying from.
And look at the reviews.
Because a cheap bag isn't necessarily a cheap bag if you're not getting the quality or quantity you expected.
Be careful when winter arrives
As the colder months approach, you'll probably start seeing more and more people advertising logs online.
Some will be genuine small businesses, but there are also always pop-up log sellers who appear when demand increases.
Our advice is simply to do your homework before ordering.
Can you find the business online?
Is there a proper website?
Are there genuine customer reviews?
Can you contact them if something goes wrong?
Are their prices clearly advertised?
Do they have an established history of supplying logs?
